Neuromodulators refer to prescription drugs such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin that, when injected, temporarily paralyze muscles. In aesthetics neuromodulators are used to treat and prevent deep wrinkles of the skin that are formed by the continual contraction of facial muscles. Typical treatment areas include the forehead, 11’s or the frown lines, and crows feet.
Neuromodulators can also be used to treat:
- Skin bands of the neck (platysmal bands)
- TMJ/oral facial pain
- Excessive sweating
- Jelly roll tox
- Microtox for enlarged pores
Procedure and Results
During your appointment our expert providers will assess your facial anatomy, review your concerns, and create a treatment plan that’s customized to you. A typical neuromodulator treatment is 30 minutes. Immediately following your procedure, you may resume most of your normal activities. We ask that you do not touch or manipulate the area injected and remain in an upright position for at least 4 hours. In addition, we recommend avoiding exercise for the rest of the day. You can expect to see the full result from your injections at 14 days with Botox and Xeomin. 72 hours with Dysport.
A typical neuromodulator treatment is 30-50 units. However, depending on your facial anatomy and goals you may require less or more units.
